Archdiocese Of Freetown Mourns the Loss of Rev. Fr. (Captain) Theophilus Yimore
On Friday, 24th May 2013, His Grace, Archbishop Edward T. Charles of the Archdiocese of Freetown presided over the funeral rite of the late Rev. Fr. Theophilus Yimore, who had fallen seriously ill of chronic renal failure and other complications and answered his home calling on Wednesday 15th May, 2013 at the 34 Military Hospital, Wilberforce, Freetown. The Requiem Mass was concelebrated by the Bishops and Priests from all the Dioceses in the country. In attendance also were the Catholic Lay Faithful, Officers and Soldiers and the Sierra Leone Army and other sympathizers. He had fallen seriously ill of chronic renal failure and other complications and answered his home calling on Wednesday 15th May, 2013 at the 34 Military Hospital, Wilberforce, Freetown.
Rev. Fr. Captain Yimore was born on the 25th March 1970 in Wulai village, Jong Chiefdom in the Bonthe District. Through several encouragements from Rev. Fr. Montesi and Rev. Fr. Kailie, he developed great interst in the priestly ministry. He entered the St. Kizito’s Pre Major Seminary in 1991. He later went to the Major Semianry to pursue his studies in philosophy and theology for a period of almost nine years. On the 22nd September 2000, he was ordained a Priest by Archbishop (Emeritus) Joseph Ganda.
After his priestly ordination, he worked in various pastoral ministeries. Later on, Fr. Yimore conceived the idea of becoming the pioneers of becoming a Roman Catholic Padre in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces Chaplaincy. Upon successful completion of his military training in Benguema in April 2008, Captain Yimore was attached to the Wilberforce Brigade and later assigned to the Murray Town Brigade where he worked assiduously until the very end.
Fr. Yimore will be fondly remembered as a zealous and hard working priest, full of affection, humour, creativity and generosity, a decent and disciplined Officer in the army.
