Sierra Leone Bishops at The Caritas Internationalis Road Mapping Workshop
The CARITAS Internationalis member organizations operating in Sierra Leone held a Road Mapping workshop to strengthen the capacity of CARITAS in Sierra Leone at the National and Diocesan levels. The three-day workshop was held in Kenema from the 6th – 8th May 2013.
The goal of the Road Mapping workshop was to understand the country’s context, priorities of the Church, proper communication and coordination mechanisms for the various relief and development arms of the Church in Sierra Leone.
Participants at the workshop were drawn from Catholic Development Agencies (CAFOD, CRS, TROCAIRE, CARITAS ITALIANA, and CARITAS AFRICA) and the National and Diocesan CARITAS and Justice and Peace Commissions in the four Dioceses. Other participants were drawn from the Secretariat of the Bishop’s Conference and the Catholic Education Office.
The Bishops of Sierra Leone, in a bid to encourage the road mapping process, paid a working visit to the workshop. They were welcomed by the National Director of CARITAS, Mr. Edward Johnbull who gave an overview of the workshop. The participants were also given the opportunity to interact with the Bishops by introducing themselves and the institution they are representing at the workshop. Later on, the Bishops were led through a PowerPoint presentation of the strategies and thematic areas they have developed during the course of the workshop. The presentation was done by the lead facilitator, Mr. Tayib Thomas from The Gambia.
In his remarks, Most Rev. Patrick D. Koroma, President of Conference, thanked the participants for their contributions. He assured them of their support and collaboration throughout the process. Mr. Michael Ghebrab, Country Representative of CRS, gave the vote of thanks.
